Gail Tverberg is an FCAS and MAAA. Between 1970 and 2007, she worked at CNA Insurance companies in Chicago and at Tillinghast (now part of Wyatt Watson Worldwide) in Atlanta. Since 2007, she has been investigating energy issues and how they affect the economy. The whole economy is physics-based. It requires energy of the right types in the right quantities. In many ways, economies are like human beings. Human beings require food to provide them with necessary energy. Humans start out small, grow, plateau in size, tend to decline in old age, and eventually pass away. Economies are similar; they tend grow, plateau, decline and eventually fall, as the Roman Empire did. Since 2007, Gail has published her work as a free service to all. She currently writes on her website, OurFiniteWorld.com. She has also written several academic articles. In 2015, she taught a short course on Energy Economics in China. Many energy groups have invited her to speak to them. Over the years, she has spoken at several Casualty Acuarial Society meetings.
