Denis Dréano is an actuarial model and data lead working for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (Zurich, Switzerland) since July 2023. He owns and develops data products for a global team of 70 actuaries supervising a wide range of P&C products and markets. His focus is on providing the best data sets and analytical tools to help his team analyze portfolio profitability and make accurate and timely steering decisions. In this position, he is developing and maintaining data pipelines with PySpark and R/Shiny applications.
Previously, Denis has worked five years as a cyber pricing actuary for Swiss Re Corporate solutions, where he has developed sophisticated reporting tools with R Markdown to segment and monitor the accumulation potential of a fast-growing portfolio of SME risks. Denis started his insurance career in 2017 with Swiss Re P&C Reinsurance as a Property Treaty underwriter, where he applied his programming and modeling skills to price complex structured solutions.
Denis holds a PhD degree in applied and computational statistics from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia). His research involved the use of satellite images and advanced statistics for modelling and forecasting the chlorophyll level in the Red Sea. Denis holds a master’s degree in Statistics from the ENS Cachan (Paris, France) and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the IMT Atlantique (Brest, France).
